Coal stocks at India’s thermal power plants dropped to just 68% of the normative requirement,against last year's level of 80%. Of the 189 thermal power plants with a combined generation capacity of 222.7 GW, 21 were operating undercriticalcoalstocklevelsas ofMay20,including11domestic coal-based stations and 10 that use imported coal.
